Legisltr is a start-up dedicated to providing political professionals – campaign consultants, State Party Caucuses, 503s – with accurate, comprehensive, and searchable voting records from non-federal legislative sources.

Rather than focus on statistical rigour, this tutorial/presentation first works through the practical aspects of data wrangling in Python. Then I discuss some of the pitfalls inherent in trying to draw conclusions from the messy world. All through out, we work with a dataset that’s relevant to anyone concerned about justice, public safety, and racial equality.
